Traffic Safety & Maintenance

Effective motorized and non-motorized traffic management is achieved by exercising the least intrusive measures to achieve safe traffic operations. When excessive control or unnecessary control is used, drivers feel overwhelmed and frequently will ignore traffic management devices, which can lead to severe consequences for pedestrians, drivers and cyclists such as collisions and personal injury. Additionally, too many traffic signs can actually confuse street users and leads to unsightly clutter.

It is the goal of the City to review all traffic safety requests and pursue warranted action based on the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MNMUTCD) or the City's local traffic policies.
