The Investigative Division is responsible for the investigation of crimes and preparation of cases for criminal prosecution. The Division is supervised by a Lieutenant and includes two Sergeants, five Detectives, two School Resource Officers and one Detective assigned to the Southwest Hennepin Drug Task Force.
Edina Detectives are active in professional associations related to their areas of expertise and routinely receive advanced training in areas such as commercial and street crimes, juvenile investigations, financial crime and vulnerable adult crime.
Cases are assigned and Detectives search for leads which includes linking crime patterns with the neighboring community. The public is engaged through social media when help is needed identifying suspects or tips.
In a typical year, over 400 juvenile arrests will be processed through the Division, and approximately 500 cases will be investigated, including robbery, assault, child abuse, burglary, sex crimes and financial crimes.
