Fats, Oil, and Grease, known collectively as FOG, forms from food scraps and waste dumped into the sewer and drains. It damages the city sewer system, creates blockages, and is one of the main causes of sewer overflows.

The City Council adopted City Code language to minimize the amount of fats, oil, grease, and wax entering the City of Edina’s wastewater collection system. The Fats, Oil and Grease Ordinance 2018-18 was adopted at the November 7, 2018 City Council Meeting. The Edina City Code Chapter 28, Division 6 contains the code language regarding minimizing fats, oil, grease, and wax in the City collection system.
