The update to the Gateway Study Area Alternative Urban Areawide Review (AUAR) is available for public comment. An AUAR assesses potential environmental impacts for development that may happen in an area. The City originally completed the AUAR in 2007. To remain valid as the environmental review document, an AUAR needs to be updated every five years. The City updated the AUAR in 2013 and is again completing the five-year update in 2018. The AUAR looks at development in an area rather than a specific project. The Gateway study area is approximately 135 acres between Highway 100, France Avenue, 76th Street, and the Fred Richards Golf Course. Four different development scenarios have been reviewed in the AUAR. The AUAR Update provides information on revised environmental impacts or changes since the previous AUAR updates. Minnesota State Rules provide for a 10-working day comment period. The comment period is from July 30-August 10, 2018. The AUAR Update is available to review during business hours at City Hall as well as the city's website below.
