Edina’s Grandview Commercial District has served as a cross-roads of commerce for many generations. Over the decades, this 80+ acre area has transitioned from a sleepy agricultural area to a busy state highway with bustling motels and roadside restaurants to an industrial area and to a popular business and residential district that serves the surrounding communities.
The City has gotten involved on a few occasions to promote re-investment in this area. Tax Increment Financing was used in the 1990s and 2000s to transform aging industrial properties into the Grandview Square condominiums and office building. The Edina Library and Edina Senior Center were also part of this early redevelopment effort.
This continues to be a popular area and has been identified as a “potential area of change” as more of the outdated uses are changing.
