Broomball
The Edina Parks & Recreation Department is forming its 2012-2013 co-recreational broomball league. Registration will continue through the beginning of December.
Each team will play six to eight league games followed by playoffs. All games will be played outside at Weber Park, 4115 Grimes Ave. S., on Wednesday evenings. Teams are limited to 16-player rosters.
Broomball, a popular ice game similar to hockey, is played wearing tennis shoes, using a small ball and stick featuring a wooden or rubber triangular head.
Government Corner
Under state law, a city with a population of more than 15,000 must annually notify its residents of the positions and salaries of its three highest-paid employees. As of Jan. 1, 2013, those positions in Edina are City Manager, $156,043; Police Chief, $129,958; and Director of Engineering, $129,958.
