School Resource Officers

The Edina Police Department has two School Resource Officers who share staffing duties at all nine Edina Public Schools.

School Reseouce Officers patrol Edina High School, Valley View and South View Middle Schools, Highlands, Creek Valley, Cornelia, Countryside, Normandale and Concord Elementary Schools. The School Resource Officers develop and present prevention and safety programs for youth, respond to calls for service at the schools and investigate crimes that occur on school property. In addition, these officers are a supportive presence in the schools, counseling and mentoring students as needed.

Under state law, a city with a population of more than 15,000 must annually notify its residents of the positions and salaries of its three highest-paid employees. As of Jan. 1, 2013, those positions in Edina are City Manager, $156,043; Police Chief, $129,958; and Director of Engineering, $129,958.
