Fire-Rescue & Building Inspections
The mission of the Edina Fire Department is to serve the community by protecting lives, property and the environment in a safe, efficient and professional manner.

Edina's Fire-Rescue and Building Inspections works together to ensure the safety of the City's residents through the implementation of building and fire codes for new constructions, to fire extinguishment and EMS response.
The Fire Department is responsible for extinguishing fires, providing paramedic and advanced life support medical service, educating the community on fire prevention issues and maintaining firefighting equipment and fire department facilities. In addition, the Department enforces laws and ordinances pertaining to fire safety.
The Building Inspections Department is responsible for plan review, permitting and inspection of all new construction. The City of Edina adopts the Minnesota State Building Code, which in turn adopts the International Building Code, International Residential Code and other codes and standards relating to building inspections.

Under state law, a city with a population of more than 15,000 must annually notify its residents of the positions and salaries of its three highest-paid employees. As of Jan. 1, 2013, those positions in Edina are City Manager, $156,043; Police Chief, $129,958; and Director of Engineering, $129,958.
