Summer Camps 2014


SUMMER CAMPS
Summer camp morning sessions will be held from 9:30 a.m.-noon and afternoon sessions will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. Classes cost $75 for non-members, $68 for members, with an $8 supply fee. There is an additional $9 fee for supervised lunches for children who take both morning and afternoon back-to-back sessions.

Have fun creating your own, unique comic book characters and stories!

Hand-build bowls out of clay. Create surface textures and other ways to embellish your one-of-a-kind bowls. Add colorful glaze for a final touch.

5-7 years - Half Pint Horses - Allison Polster
How would you like to draw or paint or sculpt with a real half-pint horse in the room? The Edina Art Center offers a new summer camp with Allison Poster and her half-pints. 8-10 years - Soft Slab; Painting on Clay Harriet Campe
What did you say? Paint on clay? Create a slab of clay using the slab roller and your hands, and then create interesting shapes. Then paint it with Harriet showing you how!

Capture your favorite pet in drawing or painting. Learn how to see shapes and color of your furry friends. Bring a photo of your pet, or choose one of ours!

Develop your own realistic and/or mythological stories. Then re-create your story through comics and storyboard art.

5-7 years - Discover Animals in ArtMolly Blotz
Three fun-filled half-days learning about how famous artists painted and drew animals. Students will create their own works of art by drawing and painting their favorite animals.

8-10 years - Clay Luminaries Adama Sow
Construct a form out of clay. Create a design that will allow light to pass through the carved openings. After your luminary has been fired, ask an adult to place a tea light inside the luminary and a lovely warm glow will be cast when lit.

11-14 years - Drawing & Painting Exploration Elizabeth Franklin
Develop your artistic vision. Have fun drawing and painting on canvas using acrylics. A variety of subjects will be offered as you learn many important techniques to enhance your art. (This camp is FULL)

Calling all horse enthusiasts! Spend three half days learning all about horse anatomy & drawing techniques to draw a beautiful horse you will cherish for years to come. Lots of pictures to work from as well as tons of encouragement.

The Gaming Academy

The gaming academy is an all day course for students who love games. During this course students will be immersed into the world of 2D and 3D game design. The gaming academy is a combination of our Video Game Design, Advanced Game Design and 3D Game Design courses. 3D Game Design

Movie Makers

This hands-on, interactive course will instruct students in the world of digital video design and production. Students will film, direct, and edit their own digital video creations. Students enrolled in this course amaze their peers with green screen and special effects work.

AGE-Our age suggestion is ages 10-17 on most classes. Commonly we accept students who may be younger. Ultimately, we leave the final decision with you, the parents, as to what you think your student is capable of doing. Our courses are open to any student with a passion for learning.
