Summer Camps

SUMMER CAMPS
Summer camp morning sessions will be held from 9:30 a.m.-noon and afternoon sessions will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. Classes cost $75 for non-members, $68 for members, with an $8 supply fee. There is an additional $9 fee for supervised lunches for children who take both morning and afternoon back-to-back sessions.

June 11-13 
9:30 a.m.-noon
5-7 years - Clay Luminaries– Molly Blotz
Construct a form out of clay. Create a design that will allow light to pass through the carved openings. After your luminary has been fired, ask an adult to place a tea light inside the luminary and a lovely warm glow will be cast when lit. Register online.

8-10 years - Clay on the Wheel– Adama Sow
Learn how to use the potters’ wheel to create wonderful bowls and mugs. Decorate using fun techniques and glaze for final firing in our kiln. Register online.

9-12 years - ‘Tween Drawing– Carol Clay
Use pencils and charcoal to draw a variety of subjects that will contain depth and texture. You will add impact to your drawings while having fun using some basic tools professional artists use! Register online.

1-3:30 p.m.
5-7 years - Decorative Clay Bowls– Adama Sow
Hand-build bowls out of clay. Create surface textures and other ways to embellish your one-of-a-kind bowls. Add colorful glaze for a final touch. Register online.

8-10 years - Build a Mixed Media Village– Anjee Emerson
In this multi-media class we will build a habitat with paper mache and paints and then sculpt creatures to live there out of polymer clay. Please bring found objects like buttons or stones to create plants, furniture, vehicles or whatever they can dream up. On the final day we will photograph them. Students will take home their projects and photo. Register online.

9-12 years - Clay Portraits– Molly Blotz
Students will sculpt a 3-D portrait in clay of someone you know or someone made-up. Use a variety of techniques to create texture and human facial features. All work will be glazed and fired in our kiln. Register online.

June 18-20
9:30 a.m.-noon
4-6 years - African Clay Pots– Adama Sow
Learn to make clay pots by hand. Adama will share African sculpting techniques for you to add finishing touches. On the third day you will glaze your pots with colorful, shiny glaze. and fire them  in our kiln. Register online.

6-8 years - Knights & Dragons– Molly Blotz
Learn about a land far, far away where Knights slayed dragons to protect the inhabitants of a great castle. You will draw and paint this time in history and watch it come alive through your art. Register online.

9-12 years - Fr. Culture Through Clay– Geneviève Chamberland
Create clay creations such as: “crème brulee” dish, “french onion” soup bowl and more. You will take home delicious recipes and a French vocabulary used in this camp. We conclude with a tasting of delicious French pastrie! Mmm delicieux. (No French language required) Register online.

6-8 years -  Into the Woods– Heather Renaux
Using recycled and found objects from nature, and a variety of art materials, we will create a floral bouquet, a landscape painting, and bug mobile. Register online.

Learn to make clay pots using the ancient methods of pinch and coil hand-building methods. Then add cool features to make your pots extra special. Colorful glazes will be the finishing touch to your awesome creations. Register online.

5-7 years - Creations in Clay– Krissy Catt
Try Clay! Make a bowl, cup and more using coil and pinch techniques. Learn how to smooth the clay for a finished look. Add colorful glaze to complete your creations. All work will be fired in our kiln. Register online.

8-10 years - Origami– Geneviève Chamberland
This camp is for origami enthusiasts! Whether you are a beginner or a pro, we will have fun making different origami creations into a finished project. Register online.

11-14 years - Clay on the Wheel– Adama Sow 
Learn how to use the potters’ wheel to create wonderful bowls and mugs. Decorate using fun techniques and glaze for final firing in our kiln. Register online.

1-3:30 p.m.
5-7 years - Discover Animals in Art– Molly Blotz
Three fun-filled half-days learning about how famous artists painted and drew animals. Students will create their own works of art by drawing and painting their favorite animals. Register online.

8-10 years - Clay Mosaics*– Adama Sow
After preparing clay in our slab roller, we will create a design and transfer it to the clay. Using safe tools students will cut out their design. The final step will be glazing the individual pieces of clay and then fire them in our kiln. *Students are asked to return Friday, July 5 for 30 minutes between 10am-Noon to grout and pick-up with Adama. Register online.

11-14 years - Drawing & Painting Exploration– Elizabeth Franklin
Develop your artistic vision. Have fun drawing and painting on canvas using acrylics.  A variety of subjects will be offered as you learn many important techniques to enhance your art. Register online.

5-7 years - Horse Drawing Club– Lisa Webskowski
Join professional illustrator Lisa, and learn all about horses. Study their skeletal and muscle structure and draw a magnificent horse. Many examples will be provided to help you draw your best horse ever. Register online.

7-10 years - Build an African Clay Village– Adama Sow
Create an African Village out of clay. You will sculpt trees, animals, huts, and more. Use colorful glazes to finish your project and fire in our kiln. Register online.

Work from your own imagination and at your own pace to hand-build a dragon with clay.  We will get our hands muddy and have a ton of fun learning how to construct basic forms.  The instructor will assist each child in sculpting and glazing their amazing works of art. Register online.

8-10 years - Watercolor Basics– Dar Brooks
This is a great class for students who want to bring their creativity to the next level.  Students will be guided according to their needs.  Paint with watercolor and learn many techniques like wet-on-wet, using salt, frisket and more. Personal style and expression is encouraged. Register online.

5-7 years -  Air, Land & Water– Heather Renaux
Learn about techniques that Master Artists use, while having fun using chalk and oil pastels, watercolors and collage. Taking our inspiration from Mother Nature and her animals, we will focus on one of the following each camp day: a bird, a land mammal, and a fish. Register online.

9-12 years - Painting w/Water-Mixable Oils– Carol Clay
Water soluble oil paint is smooth and buttery like oils, easy clean-up like acrylics. Explore this medium and create unique paintings that express your own personal vision. Register online.

Monsters!  Join Anjee and sculpt one-of-a-kind monsters. Learn how to sculpt eyes, funny hair, tentacles, and who knows what else. Register online.

9-12 years -  Summer Jungle– David Cahn
Create surreal mixed media art based on your exploration of jungle & rain forest vegetation, animals, and the fascinating ancient Mayans. Register online.

4-6 years -  Clay Critters– Geneviève Chamberland
Learn how to make an animal using clay. Important techniques will be taught that will help you create your critter! You will also apply colorful, shiny glaze to add those finishing touches. Work is fired in our kiln. Register online.

7-10 years - Sculpture– Denise Willey Johnson
Students explore the world of sculpture using a variety of art materials including, clay, wire, and wood. Register online.

4-6 years -  Clay Studio– Anjee Emerson
Bring your imagination and plan to get muddy!  We are going to use our hands to create and build the most awesome creatures and abstract sculptures in all the land.  The instructor will assist each child with building basic forms and glazing their sculptures. Register online.

Lots of tips and techniques will be taught that will provide you with the skills necessary to successfully create your very own “hoot owl” vessels. An EAC tradition! Learn how to make a dinosaur out of clay. Lots of dinosaur examples will be shown.  Glaze your dinos before they are fired in our kiln. What color will your dino be? Register online.

8-10 years - Clay Tiles– Adama Sow
Design your own unique clay tile. Add texture as you build up areas and carve out other areas for added interest. Color glazes will be provided to complete your project. Register online.

9-12 years - Drawing & Painting Whimsical Bugs & Flowers– Kay Gritton
In this mixed media camp, students will create fanciful butterflies, bugs and flowers. Use your imagination as you discover the beauty in nature. Lots of materials provided. Register online.

Learn about Leonardo Da Vinci and his art. We will view some of his most famous paintings like the Mona Lisa, Lady with the Ermine and try our hand at portraiture. Learn about the symbolism behind Leonardo’s paintings. Use many different materials as we explore this most talented of artists and why he continues to fascinate us today. Register online.

We will learn about the Old Masters, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet and Paul Klee; when they lived, what it was like in those days, where they came from, and where their art took them in life. Then we will interpret one piece of their art using a variety of mediums. Register online.

8-11 years - Beautiful Clay Birds– Krissy Catt
Create a bird and bird nest out of clay. Use a template and make a hanging bird also. For the finishing touch, apply shiny, colorful glaze. You will love the final results! Register online.

Youth Tech Inc. is an interactive computer camp that focuses on providing enrichment opportunities to students in the world of computers. In this class students will learn the basics of animation and digital design. Students who enjoy going to various sites to see fun interactive animations will love this course. Video Game Design

The Gaming Academy

The gaming academy is an all day course for students who love games. During this course students will be immersed into the world of 2D and 3D game design. The gaming academy is a combination of our Video Game Design, Advanced Game Design and 3D Game Design courses. The course offers students a variety of hands on experience designing and building their very own games. Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. *No class July 4.

3D Game Design
