Braemar Golf Course has been rated among the top 75 public golf courses in the nation by Golf Digest and has also been named by Golf For Women magazine as one of its top 100 Women Friendly Courses.

Braemar Park is 500 acres of rolling hills and scenic lakes surrounded by beautiful, untouched oak ridges. There’s a feeling of seclusion amidst its urban setting, only 20 minutes from downtown Minneapolis.

Because Edina was named by its original Scottish settlers after Edinburgh, and because golf was originally a Scottish game, a Scotch name was deemed appropriate for the park and golf course. The name “Braemar” was chosen to reflect the village and course so named in Scotland.

Construction on the original 18-hole golf course, driving range and par three course began in February 1963, and the first round was played on July 22, 1964. Since then, Braemar has been constantly expanding by changing the par three into an executive course, as well as clubhouse and pro shop expansion. The Fred Richards Executive Course and an additional regulation nine holes have been added.

Braemar hosted a PGA event, the 1969 Minnesota Classic – one of only four PGA events hosted on a public golf course that year. Braemar received national attention in 1979 when the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship was held in Edina. State tournaments held at Braemar include the Minnesota Senior Open, Minnesota Public Links Championship and the Minnesota Women’s Amateur Public Links.

Braemar features 27 regulation holes, a par 3 course, a pro shop, driving range, practice putting green, indoor golf dome, banquet and meeting rooms and other amenities. Braemar also offers golf lessons, rules and etiquette clinics and leagues.

Braemar is located only 20 minutes from downtown and the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport. Click here for a virtual tour of the course.

Braemar Golf Dome was selected as a 2015 Golf Range Association of America Top 50 Range in the Stand Alone Category.
