50th & France Parking Improvements

Construction is Underway on Parking Ramp and Streetscape Improvements!

The City is improving parking at 50th & France in Edina! Once complete, the public ramps will be cleaner, safer, brighter and more convenient.

The project includes:

  • A new electronic wayfinding sign system to help visitors find available parking in the three public parking ramps;
  • Streetscape improvements to update and unify the shopping area;
  • Repair and rehabilitation of the public ramps, including new LED lighting, fresh paint and maintenance.

Getting to 50th & France

Driving isn't the only option to visit 50th & France. Walking, bicycling, carpooling and public transportation are also good options. 50th & France has frequent bus service on Metro Transit Routes 6 and 46.

The City has studied the public parking needs at 50th & France for several years. A 2011 report by Walker Parking indicates that at least an additional 140 to 200 stalls are needed in addition to improvements to the three existing ramps to make them more efficient.

The City has contracted with Kimley-Horn Associates to work with local businesses, customers and residents to develop a plan that improves the accessibility and availability of parking in Edina. Specifically, the consultant will:

  • Identify strategies for increasing the efficient use of parking spaces
  • Determine appropriate streetscape improvements to update and unify the shopping area
  • Study expansion options of the North Ramp, including new commercial space on the street level
  • Study options for improving the South and Middle ramps.
